In addition to our wellness-based activities, Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge holds occasional doggy photoshoots that are often themed to match a specific event or holiday. We bring out backdrops and props that make for the most adorable pictures! We also organize bubble parties that take place in our playrooms where bacon- and peanut-butter-flavored edible bubbles make for delectable treats pups can chase and chomp on. Our team will let you know about themed crafts or special treat days scheduled throughout each month that you can opt to add to your dogs’ time with us.

DOG DAYCARE PLAYROOMS EQUIPPED FOR WELLNESS
When your pup attends daycare, whether it’s for the day or for an overnight stay, they will be assigned to one of our four spacious indoor playrooms that are designated based on size, temperament, and play style. Whether they’re a small or large breed or fall somewhere in between, we help ensure they remain in a comforting space with others who match their playtime vibe.
We created our playrooms with specific elements that help our indoor facility remain focused on dogs’ needs. Our compressed rubberized floors promote hip, joint, and paw health thanks to the comfy, easy-to-walk-on material, while our soundproof, floor-to-ceiling walls separate each room to limit distractions from neighboring dogs. Our facility is climate-controlled, so no matter the weather, it’s always a comfortable 65-70 degrees while your pup plays and makes new friends. Thanks to our advanced HVAC systems, clean air circulates throughout each playroom, which helps eliminate odors and maintains a fresh environment—key components of an indoor doggie facility.
All playrooms are thoroughly deep cleaned twice daily with dog-safe, chemical-free cleaning products to maintain a clean space. We also use a safe bio-enzymatic cleaner while our pups play to tidy up any accidents quickly. All our cleaning protocols have been approved by Dogtopia’s on-staff Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist, so pet parents can rest assured no matter which playroom their pup is in, it remains clean, safe, and sparkling.
Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge has earned certification status as a Heroes for Healthy PetsTM facility. The Heroes for Healthy PetsTM Certification Program in Infectious Disease Management provides training for preventative care, including strategic vaccination, and cleaning and disinfection protocols to help maintain disease-free facilities and keep pets healthy. The program is co-sponsored by the International Boarding and Pet Services Association, National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, Pet Sitters International, VETgirl, and Barkleigh Productions.

Whether you’re at work, home, or school or even lounging on the beach on vacation, if you can access the internet, you can access our webcams. Our webcams provide livestreams that you can tune into via Dogtopia’s website or free mobile app. It’s an easy way to check in on your pup while they have the Most Exciting Day Ever. While our livestream is on for most of the day, please note that we pause the stream during lunch and naptime (12-2 p.m.) and overnight.

We have highly skilled Canine Coaches who supervise our playrooms and ensure that every doggie guest is safe and having a good time. Our Coaches are experts in interacting with pups of varying sizes, breeds, and play styles and are trained to read dog body language. They can tell when your pup may need a break from the playtime action or help socializing with others.
To become a Canine Coach at Dogtopia, our team completes a comprehensive four-part curriculum that has been approved for continuing education credits by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Through this curriculum, our Coaches acquire the necessary skills to add to their toolkit that allow them to safely interact with large groups of dogs no matter the age, breed, size, or temperament. Their love, attention, and specialized care help ensure each pup has the Most Exciting Day Ever with us.
Our Coaches spend time observing your dog’s behavior and track their progress as they get more familiar with them. Over time, we get to know your dog’s personality, allowing our team to provide even greater personalized care that meets their unique needs. We provide periodic report cards to pet parents that outline behavior and the new friends your dog has made during their time with us. With regular visits, we can share your pup’s progress and relish in their growth.
DAYCARE “MUST-HAVES”
To maintain a safe facility, we require that pups meet the requirements to join our Dogtopia family:
- At least 12 weeks old
- Spayed or neutered if seven months and older
- Non-aggressive and not food- or toy-protective
- Up-to-date vaccination record that includes Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as “distemper/parvo”) administered at least 48 hours prior, though seven days prior is preferred
- No communicable conditions (including ticks or fleas) and in good health for the last 30 days
YOUR FIRST VISIT TO OUR FACILITY
All dogs who enter Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge must pass our Meet & Greet assessment. This is one of the very first things we check off our list, as we want to ensure all pups find our space beneficial. This assessment is a chance for us to get to know you and your dog and recreate some of the elements of daycare so that we can observe how they respond.
Our trained evaluators will perform a nose-to-tail wellness check, which helps us determine if your dog is comfortable with staff interaction and touch. We’ll also review their health history to ensure all necessary vaccinations are up to date. From there, we’ll create a daycare test drive which includes the following:
- Mini play space: We’ll bring in a couple of like-minded dogs to assess how your pup responds to others. During this time, we’ll observe their body language, how they interact, and if they are intrigued and curious by our playroom environment. We want our facility to be a comfortable space for all pups, but we recognize it’s not for every dog.
- Crate test: Since our facility uses home-style crates during naptime and overnight, we want to ensure they feel comfortable.
From there, our team will review their observations and let you know if daycare at Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge is a good fit at this time. If given the go-ahead, your dog can start daycare immediately. However, if we feel it is not the right environment for your pup, we encourage you to return at a later date when they feel a bit more comfortable being around others.

We’re also just over a mile from the Medical Center, making drop-off a breeze if you’re heading to an appointment. Medical Center healthcare workers can enjoy early check-in (6:30 a.m.) and late checkout (7 p.m.) for their pup’s daycare needs.
