Friendly staff and my dog is tuckered out at the end of his day
From the moment our fur baby was welcomed in to the dogtopia family both she and we have always met people who really care about her and for her.
Day Care is obviously a joyful experience as our baby pulls at the lead to enter, runs to greet all her minders and forgets about us.
Boarding her overnight was fearful for us, but to our baby it’s like having a slumber party with her best friends and she loves it.
Being pampered in the Spa is the highlight of her month.
Provide the dogs with outdoor space or short walks 2x a day. Dogtopia is expensive relative to other daycares and then you charge additional for short walks. I do like Dogtopia a lot but it’s too much money for regular use.
The longer operating hours make it more convenient

Automatic mandatory “membership-subscription-based pricing” does NOT entice customers, and it makes the customer shy about making an automatic $$ charge commitment. You would be better to simply offer multiple daycare packages, say, in groups of 5 or 10 or 20. Your business model makes your facility ONLY attractive to those who know they have LARGE long term regular needs. If you were to change your business model to “pay as you go, use as you need, no commitments” (but still offer discounted multiple-day packages) you would gain a SIGNIFICANTLY larger customer base, adding “lower-need” or occasional-need” customers to your income stream. Basic business sence: Having only a few high-need customers paying slightly higher prices…..OR…..having those same customers, still on a regular basis, BUT….. now ADDING even more medium-need or occasional use customers. And ALL of them are enticed by being able to get packages, according to their needs. Your commitment based model is deterring the occasional-customers.
Your pricing for daycare is significantly higher than other facilities in Halifax region. And then when overnight boarding is needed, it feels like you’re portraying a wee-tiny bit of greed, to add THAT much more onto the daycare price. Over all, for a typical couple to go on a 1week vacation, leaving their pup with you puts your pricing to approximately $100/day, which is excessive, comparatively, to most other similar facilities.
However please note we found the facility VERY clean, VERY attractive, and the staff were VERY welcoming.
You could also use an area for short tem vehicle parking, for drop-off/pickup.

I am quick to refer friends and dog owners to Dogtopia. Our corgi Mabel loved it there, she goes twice a week, gets so great social time and burns off a lot of energy. We are always greeted by friendly staff, who know Mabel well and love her quirks. She is always excited to go to Dogtopia, it’s like a dog party. I appreciate that I can check in on her via camera to see what she’s up too. I also love the convenience of booking a bath, nail clip whiles she’s there. We haven’t boarded yet, but I am happy that they offer this service for when we need it. I have been especially appreciative of the cool temperature in the space on these hot days. We’ve loved it from day one.

And I was disappointed that I was told on the phone that the first session would be free and then it wasn’t. I asked twice to confirm and then upon leaving I was charged much to my surprise. What I did not share was that although we have an Ontario address we come every summer. I will be using the service again possibly.
I would also suggest you ask for positive and negative feedback in separate questions so you get the reviews and suggestions for improvements.
