Welcome to Dogtopia of Houston - W. Alabama Street! Our state-of-the-art doggie daycare facility is a space where your dog can feel their most confident self as they form special bonds with their BFFFs (Best Furry Friends Forever) and engage in healthy agility-focused activities that keep their paws moving and their tails wagging.
Our off-leash, open-play environment is safe, monitored, and secure, so you can rest assured that your furry family member will receive excellent care. Our team of qualified Canine Coaches will be by your pup’s side throughout the day, monitoring their behavior, encouraging socialization, and helping them participate in our planned activities.
Our Coaches must pass an in-depth four-part training program approved for continuing education by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. This training allows our team to understand doggy body language and pick up on behaviors others may not. We’ll provide occasional report cards outlining your pup’s time at daycare, including their behavior and the furry friends they made while they were here.
ENHANCE YOUR DOG’S WELLNESS ROUTINE
At Dogtopia of Houston - W. Alabama Street, we help pet parents add more physical and mental stimulation to their furry family members’ days through a range of activities that enhance their health, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
Your pup can rack up to 60,000 steps at daycare (dogs at home average only 8,000 steps) as they play, jump, run, and join our group agility exercises, such as obstacle courses, that our expert team leads. From play structures in our playrooms for pups to help strengthen their muscles to hoops and weaving poles to practice their paw-eye coordination, your furry friend will stay active throughout the day as they boost their cardio health.
While our daycare dogs flex their muscles, they’ll also participate in mind-stimulating brain games that strengthen their problem-solving skills. Plus, our team loves to organize activities like follow-the-leader, door control, and name recall, designed to keep our pups mentally alert and provide them with novel challenges.
A trip to our doggie spa can also add to their wellness routine, as their hygiene can significantly impact their overall health. While they’re at daycare, schedule a couple of treatments like a bath, nail trim, or teeth brushing before pick-up. This can be something they look forward to, and our team will help ensure your pup feels safe and comfortable, offering total pampering throughout.
A GLANCE INSIDE OUR DOG DAYCARE IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
Our facility includes several modern playrooms and play areas, providing the space for your pup to have the Most Exciting Day Ever. Here’s a quick look at what we have to offer:
Spacious indoor playrooms: Our facility has four spacious indoor playrooms that separate dogs by size and play style. We will match your pup to the playroom that best suits their playtime vibe. Doing so helps us keep like-minded personalities together so that our daycare dogs can make friends more easily and feel comfortable roaming around their playroom. Unlike a dog park, where you never know what type of dog will approach yours, you can feel confident that your furry family member can focus on building bonds and boosting their confidence at our facility.
Each playroom has been custom-built to help meet the needs of playing pups and includes:
- Compressed rubberized flooring provides ultimate comfort on dogs’ hips, joints, and paw pads. Other dog daycares may use cement, gravel, or stone, which can be uncomfortable and challenging to play on.
- Floor-to-ceiling walls separate each playroom so that visual and auditory distractions are reduced. Rather than flimsy dividers separating groups of dogs, our playrooms are actual rooms!
- Advanced HVAC systems keep our facility fresh and clean by preconditioning 95% of the air every 11 minutes so that circulating air fills our playrooms while pups play, learn, exercise, and socialize. This also helps us climate-control our playrooms, making it a comfortable playing temperature no matter the weather outside.
- Double barrier doors have been built for each playroom, which acts as a waiting area between the playroom and our main hall. Adding this feature allows for more controlled entries and exits and adds an extra level of safety to our space.
Two outdoor play areas: Although we’re primarily an indoor facility, pups can enjoy some time outside in our two separate areas for small and large dogs. Our expert team monitors these spacious, secure areas, allowing pups to enjoy some time outside (when the Houston weather cooperates). We maintain the fun outside with play equipment, agility games, and doggie pools for pups to splash in.
Our photoshoot space: We adore our daycare photoshoots—they bring smiles to dogs and pet parents alike! Whether it’s a holiday or a special-themed day, we go all out with backdrops, props, and outfits that make for share-worthy photos. Check out our Instagram page, where we occasionally post our photoshoots and other fun activities we have going on.
Cleanliness and sanitation practices: We maintain a clean facility by following the guidelines established by Dogtopia’s very own Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist. We clean all playroom surfaces twice daily using dog-safe products, free of harsh chemicals. We also use a bio-enzymatic spot cleaner during play for potty mishaps.
WHAT’S ON THE DAYCARE AGENDA?
When your pup first arrives at daycare, they join the morning crowd, ready to burn off energy and engage in our planned activities. We break for lunch and naptime at noon, giving our daycare dogs a chance to recharge. They’ll nap alongside their friends in home-style crates within the same playroom they spent the morning in. This setup helps ensure familiarity and comfort while reducing anxiety, as other pups are nearby.
You are welcome to bring food from home so your pup maintains their normal diet, or they can enjoy our in-house food. If your furry friend is on medication, our team will administer it as instructed by the pet parent for no extra fees.
By 2 p.m., pups return to playing, learning, socializing, and exercising until pick-up. Don’t be surprised if you catch your dog snoozing on the way home—we call it the Dogtopia Daze, and it’s a sign that they had a fun day of play at daycare. (It also means you can likely skip the long evening walk).
HD WEBCAMS IN EACH PLAYROOM
Webcams are available in all playrooms and outside play spaces. Catch all the playtime action using Dogtopia’s mobile app or website, no matter where you are. If you can access the internet, you can join the virtual fun. The only time we’ll turn our cameras off is during lunch/nap time, as pups will be in their crates, and our team sanitizes each room—you won’t miss anything exciting!
DOGTOPIA’S MEET & GREET ASSESSMENT
To create a safe environment for all dogs at our facility, we conduct a 20-30-minute Meet & Greet. Passing this gives your pup the green light to daycare, as it tells our team that our off-leash, open-play environment is well-suited for them.
Our assessment includes various elements, including a health history overview and a nose-to-tail evaluation to determine any touch sensitivities our team should know about. From there, we’ll create a mini play space replicating what daycare will be like, and we’ll bring in some like-minded dogs to observe how your furry friend responds. We will also monitor their comfort level in our home-style crates, where they’ll nap and eat lunch mid-day. We’ll conclude the assessment by outlining our observations to you, indicating whether daycare is a good fit for your pup.
