Dogtopia of Waukee
Welcome Iowa-based pet parents to Dogtopia of Waukee—your dog’s ultimate destination for fun and wellness. Our expert team is here to enhance your dog’s lifestyle and create a routine that targets their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing to help improve their behavior and longevity.
It starts at daycare, where your pup will step their paws into one of our expertly constructed playrooms designated just for them based on their size and play style, allowing them to safely roam and explore. Their day will be full of fun, agility-focused activities to keep them active and engaged in learning opportunities with mind-stimulating brain games that strengthen their problem-solving skills. Our daycare pups mingle among like-minded pals and safely socialize with their BFFFs (Best Furry Friends Forever), forming bonds that will last a lifetime—which is even longer in dog years!

PREMIER DOG DAYCARE, BOARDING, AND MORE IN WAUKEE, IA
Our brand-new facility in Waukee offers modern dog services in a state-of-the-art space, making it convenient for pet parents throughout our city to access quality care for their furry companions.
Our daycare setup includes Pay Per Play options where you can choose between a half or full day of daycare or from one of our wellness plans that create consistency and structure in your pup’s schedule. Dogs thrive on routines, making daycare something they can look forward to throughout the week. It can also be a relief knowing that no matter your schedule, your dog can remain active and expertly cared for by a team that will treat your furry family member like their own.
On top of the physical exercise and wellness-based activities during the day, Dogtopia of Waukee hosts occasional doggy photoshoots equipped with themed backdrops and props that are sure to put a smile on your face, action-packed bubble parties with bacon- and peanut butter-flavored bubbles that float around our playrooms, and arts and crafts days that allow our daycare pups to flex their creative muscle.
In addition to daycare, we offer overnight boarding, offering a mini staycation for your pup to enjoy while you’re out of town or need a dog-free home for a night or longer. Does your dog suffer from separation anxiety? Our overnight stays can be a great way to get them used to new environments while having fun. We have individual suites available or home-style crates, depending on what your dog is used to. All boarding dogs will spend their days in typical daycare with the other dogs and will move to their overnight accommodations at bedtime.
As part of your dog’s wellness routine, it’s important we also stay on top of their hygiene. Our full-service dog spa offers a variety of treatments performed by our expert spa attendants who create a calm, relaxing environment for your furry companion. Whether you add spa treatments to your dog’s daycare or boarding stay or want to bring them by for some one-off pampering, your pup will look, feel, and smell like a million bones.
MODERN DOG DAYCARE PLAYROOMS
As an indoor daycare facility, we want to ensure that your pup feels comfortable and receives quality attention. Our 5,200 square feet facility includes three separate indoor playrooms that are specific to our dogs’ size and temperament. Smaller dogs enjoy our Toy Box, while larger breeds thrive in our Gym. Have a medium-sized pup that falls somewhere in between? They’ll relish in our Romper Room. Keeping dogs separated by size and play style makes them feel comfortable and confident to be their best doggie selves around others that match their vibe.
Our off-leash, open-play environment gives your dog total freedom to run, play, and socialize with their furry friends while in a safely contained indoor space. However, during those sun-filled days in Waukee, daycare pups enjoy some time in our 750-square-foot outdoor play area. Just as secure as our playrooms, our outdoor space is supervised, and we ensure no two play groups mix.
Our indoor playrooms at Dogtopia of Waukee are not your typical doggie daycare spaces with cement floors or flimsy dividers, which you may see at our competitors. We went heavy on comfort and safety so pet parents can rest assured that the time their dog spends in our playrooms is beneficial to them. Each of our playrooms include:
- Floor-to-ceiling walls: Why call it a playroom if it’s not an actual room? Many dog facilities use wire fencing to keep dogs separate, but we’ve opted for full soundproof walls that keep our rooms distinct and safe. This limits distractions from neighboring playrooms and allows our pups to focus on the fun they’re having with one another.
- Compressed rubber flooring: The type of floor your pup plays on can play a role in the health of their hip, joint, and paw pads, so we used compressed rubberized material that is a comfy option while also easy to clean and non-absorbent.
- Double-barrier doors: We have a very secure space with team members scattered throughout our facility, and take extra precautions to ensure our playrooms exits are secure. We have double-barrier doors so there is always a secure space between our play space and main hall, keeping all entries and exits controlled and supervised. Doggie escape artists won’t be a worry here!
- HVAC system: We have fresh, filtered air circulating throughout our facility. This allows pups to feel like they’re not even indoors, and thanks to its climate-controlled capabilities, we always keep our playrooms a comfortable temperature.
- Live HD webcams: We have your new favorite dog video, and it just happens to star your very own pup! Our webcams are equipped in each playroom to livestream all the tail-wagging fun, which is accessible via Dogtopia’s mobile app or website. We pause our livestream for lunch/nap time (12-2 p.m.) and overnight.
To keep our playrooms looking and smelling fresh, we closely follow the expert cleaning guidelines set by Dogtopia’s Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist to maintain the brand’s high standards. All playroom surfaces are sanitized twice a day with dog-safe cleaning products, and we use a bio-enzymatic cleaner for any “in the moment” potty mishaps.
Dogtopia of Waukee has earned certification status as a Heroes for Healthy PetsTM facility. The Heroes for Healthy PetsTM Certification Program in Infectious Disease Management provides training for preventative care, including strategic vaccination, and cleaning and disinfection protocols to help maintain disease-free facilities and keep pets healthy. The program is co-sponsored by the International Boarding and Pet Services Association, National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, Pet Sitters International, VETgirl, and Barkleigh Productions.
expert canine coaches at Dogtopia of Waukee
Now that we’ve covered the actual playrooms let’s talk about who is in them (besides our adorable pups, of course). We have highly skilled Canine Coaches who supervise our playrooms to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every doggie guest. Our Coaches are experts in interacting with pups of varying sizes, breeds, and play styles and know how to read dog body language. With the ability to tell when pups may need a break from the playtime action or help socializing with others, our Coaches ensure everyone is having a good time.
Dogtopia Canine Coaches are highly trained professionals. They complete a comprehensive four-part curriculum that has been approved for continuing education credits by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. With the knowledge and skills they acquire during training, our Coaches are equipped to provide top-notch care for large groups of dogs, regardless of their breed, age, size, or temperament. Pet parents can have peace of mind knowing that their furry family member is cared for by Coaches who have updated training and expertise to care for their pup effectively.
Since our Coaches get to know your dog better with every daycare visit, we can provide periodic report cards about their experience so that you can stay updated on their progress. These report cards include information about their behavior and the new friends they have made. It’s a great way to assess how your pup behaves when they’re not by your side and see the progress they’re making on return visits.
THE FIRST STEP: A MEET & GREET ASSESSMENT
We can’t wait for you and your pup to join our Dogtopia family! All dog breeds are welcome at Dogtopia of Waukee, and we want to assure pet parents that their pups will be in capable hands while in our care.
To maintain a safe facility, all Dogtopia locations’ guidelines include:
- All dogs must be at least 12 weeks old.
- Pups seven months or older must be spayed or neutered.
- Vaccines, including Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as “distemper/parvo”), must be up to date and administered at least 48 hours before attending daycare. However, we highly recommend ensuring an immune response, which can take between seven to 10 days. Our team will inform you if your dog needs the canine influenza vaccine before their visit.
- Dogs must be free of communicable conditions (including ticks or fleas) and in good health for the last 30 days.
- Dogs must be non-aggressive and not food- or toy-protective.
Our Meet & Greet assessment is a chance for us to get to know your pup and see if they are comfortable in our space before attending their first day. We only want the best for your furry family member, so this quick yet thorough assessment performed by our trained evaluators will give us an idea if our off-leash, open play environment is the right fit.
Think of our Meet & Greet as a daycare test drive where your pup will try out the different elements of a typical stay before diving in on their first day. Here’s what you and your furry friend can expect during the evaluation:
- Health History Overview & Wellness Check: Our evaluators will look at your pup’s health history to ensure they’re in good health and up to date on all vaccinations. Then, we’ll perform a nose-to-tail assessment where we will assess how your dog responds to touch (and make note of any sensitivities to remember for the future)
- A Mini Playdate: We’ll create a controlled open-play setting with a few like-minded dogs from daycare and observe how your pup responds.
- Crate Comfort: Our home-style crates are used during naptime, so we will assess your pup’s comfort in one during our evaluation.
- Overall Observations: Our team will provide general observations about your dog and let you know if we think our facility is the right fit. If we find daycare may not be suitable for your pup at this time, we encourage you to return in the future when your dog feels more comfortable in a new environment with other dogs.
The entire evaluation will be around 20-30 minutes, during which our team will answer any questions you have about our services. We want Dogtopia of Waukee to be a comforting space for you and your pup to enjoy.
