Rather than being kept in a kennel all day, our facility provides pups up to 10 hours of open play at daycare in our spacious, supervised playrooms and outdoor area, where they can socialize, exercise, and engage with other like-minded pals. By the time bedtime rolls around, they’re relaxed and ready for a good night’s rest in a cozy environment to ensure they feel secure. If your dog prefers extra comfort, we offer the option of upgrading to a private suite.

Our staff takes care of all mealtimes, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to keep your pup well-fed and happy during their stay. We’re also experienced in administering oral and topical medications as needed, so we can accommodate special health requirements your dog may have. Before an overnight stay, we ask that your dog attend at least three days of daycare. This allows them to acclimate to our environment and gives our team a chance to get to know them. We find this helps ensure dogs’ overall comfort, letting them know they will have a great time and that you will always return to pick them up.

WHAT CAN YOUR DOG EXPECT?

When you drop off your pup at our state-of-the-art, 6,000-square-foot facility for an overnight stay, they will immediately join the fun in a playroom specifically designed to match their size, temperament, and play style.

Our Toybox playroom offers a cozy, secure environment tailored to smaller breeds, allowing them to socialize with pups at a similar eye level. Our Gym playroom caters to bigger dogs with a more laid-back personality, offering a setting for more relaxed, gentle interactions. And for the pups that fall somewhere in between, we have our Romper playroom, which provides ample space for energetic activities and lively play.

From agility exercises and brain games to special activities like photoshoots, bubble parties, and paw painting, your furry friend will remain active and mentally engaged throughout their time with us. They’ll enjoy up to 60k steps daily, which helps boost their cardiovascular health, combined with ample time to rest and relax when needed. Plus, with our Coaches in each playroom organizing activities and helping dogs engage with each other, we can recognize when pups need a break.

From noon until 2 p.m., dogs enjoy lunch and nap time. Pups remain in the same playroom they just played in to maintain consistency and comfortability. We’ll also clean the playrooms as they recharge in their crates as part of our twice-daily sanitization schedule. We only use chemical-free, dog-safe cleaning products, so your pup won’t be around harsh, strong-smelling chemicals.

When it’s time for our daycare dogs to be picked up, our overnight guests enjoy extra playtime as we prepare their dinner. When it’s time to get the pups to sleep, your furry family will be happily played out and ready to hit the hay.

Our experienced team of Canine Coaches, who are skilled in dog behavior and body language, closely monitors doggie interactions in each playroom, encourages positive socialization, and expertly manages any potential shift in behavior to maintain a secure and happy playroom environment. Adding to the excitement, our Coaches organize fun-filled activities and events that keep tails wagging all day long.

Every detail of our indoor playrooms is designed with your pup’s safety and comfort in mind:

• Our floors are made from compressed rubber, providing a cushioned surface that promotes healthy joints and happy paw pads.
• Floor-to-ceiling, soundproof walls help minimize noise from neighboring playrooms, creating a calm and secure environment.
• For extra security, we’ve added double-barrier doors to act as a buffer between the playrooms and the main hall.
• Our advanced HVAC system keeps the air fresh and circulating while allowing us to keep the temperature consistent, so our facility is always a comfortable playtime temperature, whether it’s a summer heatwave or our Minnesota winters.

 Want to still feel connected to your pup while you’re away? Our live HD webcams allow you to check in on your furry family member. We’ve equipped our webcams in each playroom and outside play space, which you can access on Dogtopia’s website or mobile app. The only time the livestream turns off is from 12-2 p.m. and overnight.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BOARDING AT Dogtopia of St. Paul - University Ave

First, all pups must pass our Dogtopia Meet & Greet. This 20 to 30-minute evaluation determines whether our off-leash, open-play environment is a good fit for your dog.

The process starts with our evaluators reviewing your pup’s health history. We’ll also conduct a nose-to-tail assessment to document any touch sensitivities your dog may have. From there, we introduce them to a small playgroup with dogs of similar temperament, allowing our team to observe their social interactions. We’ll also get them comfortable with our home-style crates used for rest and overnight boarding.

As your dog explores our space, we’ll be here to answer any questions you may have and guide you through our facility to ensure you feel at ease.

By the end of the evaluation, we’ll share our findings and let you know if your pup is ready to join Dogtopia. If they need a little more time, we’ll offer recommendations to help them prepare. For those given the green light, you can book their initial daycare visit immediately.

Dogtopia has also established a list of requirements that all dogs must adhere to before their overnight or daycare stay. Those in our care must meet the following:

• At least 12 weeks old
• An updated vaccine record that includes Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as distemper/parvo)
• Spayed/neutered if seven months and older
• Free from communicable conditions (e.g., fleas, ticks, etc.)
• In good overall health
• Non-aggressive
