What is the worst thing about dogs? Is it the chewing, the shedding, or the pulling on the leash? No, the worst thing about dogs is they just don’t live long enough. Anyone who has experienced the loss of a dog knows this all too well.  Now in 2025, Dogtopia of Shrewsbury has partnered with the Dog Aging Project to help our pups live longer!

The Dog Aging Project is working to identify ways to help dogs live healthier and longer lives. This innovative research brings together a community of dogs and their families, veterinarians, researchers, and volunteers, all led by scientists and veterinarians at the University of Washington and Texas A&M University, as well as partners at multiple Universities and private veterinary practices.

The Project invites all ages, breeds, sizes, and health conditions to join the most ambitious canine health study in the world. Enrolled dogs remain at home with their families throughout the study. Participants provide information through surveys and veterinary records, as well as the occasional activity.

You can enroll your dog at www.dogagingproject.org, or visit the Dog Aging Project on FacebookInstagramTwitterLinkedInYouTube, or TikTok(@dogagingproject) to learn more.

Please share this with your friends, family, and dog network so they too can become part of this exciting project. Visit the Dog Aging Project resources library to find flyers, social media posts, and more to help spread the word. More dogs (and more data!) will help all of us understand how our canine friends can live longer, healthier lives.
