If we were to film a day in the life of a dog at Dogtopia of Orland Park, you would see an active pup engaging in a wide range of enriching activities, such as mind-stimulating brain games to strengthen their problem-solving skills, fun agility-focused exercises designed to keep them moving, and opportunities for socialization with like-minded BFFFs (Best Furry Friends Forever) that allow them to tap into their natural pack instinct and form long-lasting bonds. If this sounds like something your furry friend would be into, then bring them to Dogtopia of Orland Park—our brand-new facility where doggie wellness is prioritized and tail-wagging fun is a given.
Our highly trained, passionate, dog-loving team is committed to providing the Most Exciting Day Ever for your pup while they’re in our care. In addition to organizing physical and mental wellness activities throughout the day, our location regularly hosts doggie photoshoots with themed props and backdrops that will surely bring a smile to any pet parent’s face. We also have Arts & Crafts days for our daycare pups to channel their inner artist, excitement-filled bubble parties where dogs can chase around delicious bacon- or peanut butter-flavored bubbles, and yummy treat days for pups to enjoy a tasty snack.
There are so many amazing benefits of daycare, and we can’t wait for your pup to experience everything we have to offer. We want you to be assured that your furry family member will be in a loving and safe environment, as we know how much they mean to you. Dog daycare is not just about supervision—our team at Dogtopia of Orland Park goes so much further by providing a space for dogs to transform and thrive. They get to socialize with others and learn how to play nicely as they form their furry friend group. You can look forward to your pup getting plenty of exercise from playing, which leads to a healthier and more fit lifestyle, as our daycare dogs spend 8-10 hours playing and take approximately 30,000 steps in a day compared to dogs at home who average around 4,000 steps due to inactivity. We also provide positive reinforcement for good behavior, which encourages dogs to play safely and move away from certain behaviors like jumping, barking, and chewing on furniture.
Depending on your schedule, we have full and half-day options in addition to our wellness plans. Pet parents who opt for the latter make daycare a common weekly occurrence, which is something your dog will appreciate. By developing a daycare routine, your pup will thrive due to the familiarity and consistency. Plus, with all the positive health benefits daycare can bring, remaining consistent allows your dog to enjoy an ongoing healthy lifestyle.
PREMIER DOG DAYCARE PLAYROOMS IN ORLAND PARK, ILLINOIS
Our 6,600 sq. ft. facility includes four spacious indoor playrooms where your pup will spend the day. However, these are not just any playrooms—they have been expertly designed to ensure pups feel comfortable to develop into their best doggie selves.
Separation: We separate our daycare dogs by their size, temperament, and play style to promote safety and to encourage greater socialization with like-minded furry pals. After all, our smaller pups appreciate not being towered over or intimidated by our larger breeds, while our bigger and more mature pups prefer interacting with dogs that match their playtime vibe. Our Toy Box is just for small pups, our Gym is for larger breeds, the Romper Room is for medium-sized pups with more play energy, and the Lounge is great for older, calmer dogs.
Safety: Maintaining a safe environment for our daycare dogs is paramount. When designing our playrooms, we included several elements that would keep our playing pups protected and healthy as they spend their day with us. From the ground up—we have compressed rubber flooring that maintains healthy joint, hip, and paw pad health; floor-to-ceiling soundproof walls that limit distraction from neighboring playing pups and reduce the risk of airborne doggie viruses; themed murals on the walls to add to the ambiance of the playrooms; secure play equipment that encourages safe, fun exercise; double-barrier doors to maintain controlled entries and exists and to ensure there is always a secure space between our playroom and the main hallway; and an advanced HVAC system that helps clean and ionize the air using UV light while also maintaining a climate-controlled environment at a comfortable playing temperature.
Sanitization: We want our playrooms to be fresh and clean throughout the day so that all pups have to worry about is which activity they want to do next. Our team sanitizes all playroom surfaces twice a day using dog-safe cleaning products. Dogtopia’s Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist have developed protocols that we closely follow at Dogtopia of Orland Park, as we want our playrooms to maintain their high quality no matter how many playing pups are joining us.
There are several benefits of indoor playrooms, including that they promote a greater sense of safety compared to a dog park, as like-minded pups are always kept together—something that is not always possible in a big park with varying doggie personalities. Another benefit is that even during the cold winters, dark and rainy days, or sweltering humid summers, playtime is never interrupted or cut short.
We also want pet parents to rest assured that indoor play does not impact house training. Since our playrooms have so many new sights, smells, and sounds, they greatly differ from what dogs are used to at home so they don’t consider it a typical indoor space, meaning their potty training won’t be affected.
LIVE HD WEBCAMS IN EACH DOG PLAYROOM
Our playroom webcams allow pet parents to log on throughout the day to see how happy their pup is at our daycare. Using our free mobile app or website, watch your pup interacting with other dogs and the BFFFs they made. You can log on to any playroom camera during open play; the only time the livestream is turned off is during lunch and naptime to maintain pups’ privacy and give our team a chance to deep-clean the playrooms.
AN EXPERT TEAM OF CANINE COACHES
Our team of Canine Coaches follow a rigorous four-part training program developed by Dogtopia’s Canine Behaviorist. This comprehensive custom training program has been approved by both the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.
Our Coaches are responsible for supervising playtime, ensuring that pups properly and safely engage in play, exercise, socialization, and learning. Thanks to their intensive training, our Coaches can quickly detect any changes in body language or behavior and prevent potential incidents before they happen.
Experts in handling large groups of dogs, regardless of their breed or size, our Coaches can “communicate” with each pup and take the time to understand their unique needs. If a dog needs a short break from the playtime fun, our Coaches handle it quickly and compassionately. On the other hand, if some pups need a helping hand to get them engaging and interacting, our Coaches are there to do so.
Regular daycare attendance allows our Coaches to learn each dog’s personality and preferences, enhancing their daycare experience each time. They keep a close eye on our furry friends throughout the day and provide pet parents with periodic report cards detailing their dog’s behavior and which friends they made. Our regular doggie guests can also receive tips on how to replicate some of the basic training taught in daycare at home.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A DAY AT DAYCARE AT DOGTOPIA OF Orland Park
We are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, which means when you drop off your furry family member for daycare, they will join our morning crowd, ready to expend the energy built-up from their sleep the night before.
Until noon, pups play alongside their furry friend group, engaging in fun activities and exercises that our team organizes. When it’s time to break for lunch, they will move to their home-style crate that remains in the playroom they were just playing in, which promotes comfort and familiarity. At our location, you can bring your dog’s favorite food, or we can take care of their meals. We offer free kibble as well as many treats and dishes at an additional cost. Some examples include turkey bacon, chicken protein bowls, salmon protein bowls, and peanut butter Kong treats. Our team will also administer any medication during this time, as directed by the pet parent.
After our pups chow down on their lunch, they will enjoy some “me time” as they rest and recharge. Our team takes this time to sanitize the surfaces in each playroom so that it is fresh and sparkling for the pups’ next play session. 2:00 p.m. is when our daycare dogs are ready to rejoin the fun with engaging exercises, games, and activities. When pick-up time rolls around, your pup will be ready to drift off to snooze-vile, likely on the car ride home! It’s a phenomenon we call the “Dogtopia Daze,” and it’s a sign your dog had an exciting, active day.
Many of our pet parents opt to add a trip to our full-service spa during their dog’s daycare stay. We have several treatment options available to maintain your pup’s hygiene and give them the pampering they deserve.
COMMITMENTS TO SAFETY
Dogtopia has several commitments to safety that we at Dogtopia of Orland Park uphold, including:
- A universal vow to treat your dogs like a member of the family
- 8-10 hours of open play to encourage socialization and exercise
- Effective in-store cleaning products created specifically with your dog’s safety in mind
- A charitable cause that enables dogs to give back to humanity
- Certified Canine Coaches trained to manage and educate all breeds of dogs
- A passion for providing both pet parents and pups the best possible service
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming facility, there are some parameters that Dogtopia has set in place for all locations, including ours, to ensure a secure space. Although all breeds are welcome, your dog must be at least 12 weeks old, and those seven weeks and older must be spayed/neutered. To reduce the risk of any health-related issues arising, all dogs must have an updated vaccination record that includes common vaccines like Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as “distemper/parvo”). We often recommend your pup receive the canine influenza vaccine, but we’ll let you know if this is required before your dog attends daycare. Additionally, your pups should be free of any communicable illness for the past 30 days (i.e., fleas, ticks, etc.).
OUR MEET & GREET ASSESSMENT
We want our daycare pups to feel comfortable in our open-play, off-leash environment, so we schedule a quick yet thorough Meet & Greet assessment to determine your dog’s suitability for our type of space. It also allows pet parents to rest assured that each pup at Dogtopia of Orland Park has passed the same assessment and that our team of experts feels confident having them interact with other dogs and enjoy the benefits that daycare has to offer.
During our Meet & Greet, our expert evaluators will conduct a health history overview and snout-to-tail observation, which includes noting how your dog responds to touch—something that some dogs are sensitive about. We want to use this time to replicate some of the components of our daycare experience, so we’ll create a controlled mini-play space with like-minded dogs from daycare to see how they interact. We’ll also determine your dog’s comfort level in our home-style crate, as that’s where they’ll nap during the day.
Bringing your dog to daycare can be a big step for pet parents, so we also want to use this time to show you around our facility and answer any questions you have. If you feel comfortable, your pup will pick up on it and feel more confident in our space.
If our evaluators give the green light on your pup’s Meet & Greet and they think your furry friend is a good fit for daycare, you will be able to start as soon as possible.
