We offer overnight and long-term boarding options to dog parents in Richmond, Chesterfield, Midlothian and the surrounding regions. Whether you’re going to be out of town overnight, the weekend or longer, leave your dog with us and we will take good care of them!
Your dog will enjoy their own vacation with lots of playtime and love from our team and the other four-legged guests. Boarding dogs enjoy plenty of fun activities and exercise throughout the day.
Dogtopia of Chesterfield does not charge extra to administer any medication your dog may be taking or feed them their own dog food. In fact, we encourage our clients to bring their pup’s regular dog food. They may be nervous about staying in a new environment and a change to their diet can upset their stomach.
Bringing a favorite non-squeak toy, blanket or piece of bedding can also help with any homesickness your dog may experience.
Of course, lots of TLC from our team and the other dogs is always free of charge, too!
We provide our team members with some of the best training in the business. Before they can work in our playrooms, they learn about every aspect of dog daycare, from recognizing dog behavior to managing large groups in our open play environment. They understand the nuances of safely caring for dogs of all sizes and breeds!
What Makes Dogtopia of Chesterfield the Top Dog?
Your dog will enjoy their own vacation when they stay with us. They will spend the day playing in our open playrooms with the other boarding dogs and our daycare dogs. And on nice days, they’ll enjoy plenty of time in our safely enclosed, artificially-turfed outdoor playground. Throughout their visit, they will enjoy plenty of potty breaks and a nap after lunch.
Whether it’s their first time away from home or their hundredth, your dog may still be nervous. To help establish a sense of familiarity, your pup will be crated in large, home-style crates at night in the same playroom in which they spent the day playing.
Just to be sure your dog is truly settled and comfortable when they stay with us, we ask you drop them off no later than 4 pm. This will give them the chance to get used to our facility before they turn in for the night. If this is their first time coming to Dogtopia we require a day of daycare before boarding.
Most importantly, we know that receiving lots of TLC is important. Your dog will receive the same amount of love and affection when they stay with us as they would at home. Our team are dog parents themselves and will treat your pup the same way they would their own pets.
Keep an Eye on Your Dog with Our Webcams
Your pup may not be the only one suffering from homesickness. That is why we offer webcams in all three of our playrooms and outdoor play area. All you need is a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone and an internet connection. Put your mind at ease and enjoy a laugh as you watch your dog having fun with their furry friends and our team.
Meet and Greet
Before you board your dog with us, we ask that you bring them to Dogtopia of Chesterfield for a meet and greet with our team. That way, we can determine if they are a good fit for our open play environment.
Please ensure that your dog’s vaccinations are up to date and they are free of fleas, ticks and any contagious diseases. If they are on any medication, please bring it with them.

A day at the spa is an essential part of any vacation, so why should it be any different for your dog? Upgrade your boarding package to include our spa services. We will bathe your pup, trim their nails and brush out their coat, if requested.
A Typical Day for Boarding Dogs
- 6:00am– 6:30 am: Breakfast time
- 7:00 am: Daycare dogs begin to arrive, ready for play
- 7:00 am – 12:00 pm: Supervised open play time, romping, running, sniffing and lounging
- 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: A well-deserved nap
- 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm: More play with furry friends
- 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Dinner time after the daycare dogs have gone home
- 8:00 – 9:30 Relaxing play time, final potty break and tucked in for bed
