If you have to spend long stretches of time away from your dog, whether you’re on a work trip or a vacation, bring them to a place where they’ll be having so much fun, they won’t be sad about being separated. Instead, they will enjoy socializing with like-minded furry friends during the day, and restful sleep at night. We like to think of our boarding service as a staycation for your pup – it receives five barks out of five every time!
When selecting a facility for boarding, we at Dogtopia of San Antonio - Northwest always advise pet parents to do their research, especially since we know that not all boarding facilities are created equal. At our facility, we go the extra mile to put our pet parents at ease because as pet parents ourselves, we know it is hard to leave a loved furry family member. That is why we do our best to answer any questions you may have and go out of our way to send pictures, messages, and updates while you are away. We’re more than a place to leave your furry family members when you can’t be with them; Dogtopia is a trusted home away from home!
the top dog boarding facility in san antonio, texas
When your dog visits us for the first time, they must first pass our Meet & Greet, which is a thorough evaluation that our trained experts conduct on all pups who enter our facility. It helps us determine an off-leash, open-play environment is a good fit for your dog, while also ensuring our home-style crates used for napping and overnight stays are comfortable for your pup.
Please note that all dogs at our facility must be at least 12 weeks old, with up-to-date vaccinations (i.e., Rabie, Bordetella, DHPP). Dogs that are seven months old and older must be spayed or neutered.
For boarding dogs, we ask that they first attend three days of our daycare prior to their overnight stay. We have found that this helps lower any separation anxiety during their extended stay since the space is already familiar to then, and it also helps teach your furry family member that Dogtopia of San Antonio - Northwest is a safe, temporary space where you will always be back to pick them up from.
During their boarding stay, your dog will enjoy all of the benefits of our daycare in our brand-new, 7500 sq ft facility. We have three playrooms that we separate our pups into by their size, temperament, and play style. This keeps playtime safe and fun as our pups interact with like-minded BFFFs (Best Furry Friends Forever) and form special bonds. Our “Gym” playroom is for larger breeds of dog, smaller pups spend time in our “Toybox,” and our “Romper Room” is dedicated to medium-sized dogs or those with higher energy levels when they play.
During playtime, our team of Canine Coaches are there to supervise play and encourage socialization and good manners. Experts in doggie body language and pack management of all breeds of dogs, they can detect even the slightest change in behavior and can address any situations efficiently, while using positive reinforcement to reward good behavior. Our Canine Coaches ensure safety and enforce fun, so that you can rest assured your pup is well cared for while you’re apart.
At Dogtopia of San Antonio - Northwest, we follow a schedule to keep our pups’ days consistent. From opening until noon, your pup will learn, play, and engage in agility exercises and brain games that will keep them feeling strong. Just like toddlers, dogs need rest time during the day, which is why we offer some much-needed downtime until 2:00 p.m. so they can nap and enjoy some lunch. Our team is trained on precise oral medication administration, and can also give medication at this time as directed by pet parents. Once their batteries are recharged, they are back to playing with their furry friends until the end of the day. Then, our team gets your dog ready for bed where they can have a restful sleep.
Our facility can offer several options when it comes to boarding. We have our standard boarding, which is a comfortable home-style crate located in the same familiar playroom your dog played in during the day. We also have more private suites if your pup would rather have more alone time or if you have a pair of siblings that you would like to keep together. With both options, we recommend pet parents bring their pup’s bedding, blankets, or toys that you want them to sleep with. These reminders of home can offer comfort as they settle in for the night.
If there is any special food that you want your pup to have during their stay, we can accommodate. We also offer a variety of house food and treats, such as regular and grain-free food, protein bowls, and yummy goodies like peanut butter/yogurt-filled Kongs, berry parfaits, and pup cups.
our commitment to cleanliness
We strive to make our facility safe for our pups, and our cleaning protocols play a major role. Our playrooms are sanitized multiple times a day using a biologically safe, dog-friendly cleaner. We also use compressed rubberized flooring in each of our playrooms that are non-absorbent, odor-resistant and easy to wipe down. This type of flooring also contributes to the long-term paw and joint health of dogs.
Each playroom is equipped with UV-filtered HVAC systems that minimize the bacteria in the air while maintaining a comfortable temperature for play and nap time. We also have full walls that separate each playroom to help contain and prevent doggie health issues that are commonly airborne.
access to our playroom webcams
When you are out of town, our playroom webcams allow you to join in on all the virtual, tail-wagging excitement. During playtime hours, pet parents can access our private stream through our website and free mobile app, available for Apple and Android users. Watching your dog interact and form bonds with other like-minded friends is the cutest thing you will see all day!
add a trip to the spa
In true staycation fashion, book your dog a relaxing trip to the spa. During their extended stay, have them feeling, looking, and smelling like a million bones by the time you pick them up. We offer a range of doggie spa services to choose from, and many pet parents add spa treatments to their boarding packages.
