How We Keep Dogs Healthy with Daily Wellness Checks

At Dogtopia of Summerville, your dog’s health is our top priority. That’s why we conduct daily wellness checks for every dog entering daycare.

Before joining the playroom, each dog stops in our evaluation room for a wellness check. This small, secure space between the hallway and playroom is where we also swap their personal collar or harness for a colorful Dogtopia collar or harness, tailored to their needs.

The wellness check ensures every pup is ready for a day of fun. Our team inspects each dog’s eyes for discharge that could indicate illness, listens for coughing or hacking that might signal a cold, and checks their gum health. If all is well, they’re off to enjoy their Most Exciting Day Ever!

At pickup time, we change dogs back into the belongings they arrived with and check to ensure they still look healthy. We wipe their paws with baby wipes and spritz them with Dogtopia’s signature mandarin orange perfume, which helps remind pups of the fun day they had and the snuggles they’re sure to receive when reunited with mom and dad!

We also have a scale in our evaluation room to ensure dogs are placed in the right playroom with appropriately sized playmates for safe play. If you’re ever curious about your dog’s weight, just ask us, and we’ll be happy to weigh them!
